Right Here Right Now Phase 2 (RHRN2) – Bangladesh Coalition
Donor: Rutgers, Netherlands
The Right Here Right Now Phase 2 (RHRN2) project, implemented in 2024 across Savar, Narail, Sylhet, and Gaibandha with national-level advocacy in Dhaka, aims to empower young people—especially girls, marginalized groups, and people with disabilities—to claim their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Led by BRAC with partners like Naripokkho, Oboyob, and RHSTEP, the project engages stakeholders such as DGFP, DGHS, and DSHE to improve access to comprehensive sexuality education (CSE), adolescent-friendly services, and inclusive, rights-based health programming. Funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands through Rutgers, RHRN2 emphasizes youth leadership, inclusive education, community engagement, and media outreach to advance SRHR agendas. In 2024, the project reached 3,756 young people with CSE, distributed 685 braille booklets, trained 25 journalists, and engaged parents, educators, and health officials through sensitization and advocacy sessions. Notable efforts included improving school safety through the Whole School Approach, national roundtables on adolescent-friendly services, and youth participation in international forums like APFSD and the UN CSO Conference. Despite political unrest and resistance to sensitive SRHR topics, flexible planning and interactive learning methods ensured strong participation and impact. RHRN2 continues to prioritize youth-led advocacy, disability inclusion, cross-movement collaboration, and sustainability planning to ensure lasting improvements in SRHR access and awareness beyond 2025.
