ISRHR Project
Donor: HealthBridge Foundation of Canada (lead) and Ipas Bangladesh; technical partners OGSB, BAPSA, SERAC Bangladesh
The Improving Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Dhaka (ISRHRD) project, running from August 2021 to June 2026, aims to enhance access to quality sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services and uphold the reproductive rights of women, adolescents, and marginalized groups in Dhaka, Gazipur, and Narayanganj districts. The project partners with 12 tertiary-level referral facilities and 38 UPHCSDP urban clinics to strengthen healthcare capacity, improve infrastructure, and promote community awareness. By focusing on client-centered, rights-based care, ISRHRD supports informed choice and equitable health outcomes, contributing to national goals in maternal and adolescent health. In 2024, ISRHRD delivered a total of 139,502 SRHR services, including family planning, menstrual regulation, post-abortion care, and gender-based violence (GBV) support, directly benefiting women in urban areas. While referral facilities provided 52,859 services with limited GBV cases, the urban clinics played a vital role by delivering 86,643 services and higher GBV support, highlighting their accessibility for survivors. Despite challenges such as delays in family planning commodity procurement, the project’s strong service delivery and capacity-building efforts—training over 250 healthcare providers—ensured sustained quality care and broad reach, reinforcing ISRHRD’s commitment to advancing SRH rights and services in the region.
