Agreement on Reproductive Health Signed
Swedish Sida and Reproductive Health Services Training and Education Program (RHSTEP) signed an agreement on “Sexual and reproductive health and rights program” on October 14, 2010.
On behalf of the development partner, Swedish Ambassador in Dhaka Anneli Lindahl-Kenny and on behalf of the SRHR consortium, RHSTEP Executive Director Quazi Suraiya Sultana signed the agreement.
Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) consortium of Bangladesh comprises of two organizations, RHSTEP and Bangladesh Association for Prevention of Septic Abortion (BAPSA), will implement the project on “Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Program focusing on Safe MR and reduction of Unsafe MR in Bangladesh ”.
The three-year project will begin October 15, 2010 .
The project will contribute to improving sexual and reproductive health rights of the women and adolescents and reduction in maternal mortality and thus helping to fulfil the targets to achieve the health related MDGs 4 and 5.
This program will be financed by Swedish Sida and co-financed by CordAid.
First Secretary Ylva Sörman Nath and Program Officer-Health Dr. Mohammad Zahirul Islam of Embassy of Sweden, BAPSA Director Dr. Altaf Hossain, and RHSTEP Director Md. Ashiqul Islam were present at the agreement signing ceremony.
