Reduction of Unsafe Abortion in Rural Bangladesh
The Safe Abortion Action Fund (SAAF), with-a-view to promot reproductive health services and prevention of unsafe abortions of disadvantaged and deprived rural women of the world, has been engaged in implementing various projects for a long time. Unsafe abortion poses an alarming health hazard. It is more alarming in developing and poor countries than the developed countries.
The Government of UK and the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) have the issue and played a significant role through advocacy in prevention of unsafe abortion coincide by ensuring services to Obs/gyn related complicated cases. With this prime objective a fund has been created and floated under the title “Safe Abortion Action Fund (SAAF)” from Februay 2006.
The Department for International Development (DFID) of the Government of UK, the social communities together with the NGOs have entrusted IPPF with the obligations to carry out programs to prevent unsafe abortions globally.
The porject is implementing with joint collaboration of RHSTEP, Bangladesh Women’s Health Coalition (BWHC) and Bangladesh Association for Prevention of Septic Abortion (BAPSA).
