The initiative aimed to strengthen health awareness, skill development, and social inclusion of young persons with disabilities, ensuring their active participation in mainstream society.
The program brought together students with disabilities from various schools, colleges, and community groups across Rangpur, along with their guardians, creating a collaborative platform for learning, interaction, and empowerment.
The key highlight of the session was an inclusive health and rehabilitation workshop conducted by Clinical Physiotherapist Dr. Jiniya Parvin. She demonstrated simple yet effective physical exercises designed to improve mobility, physical strength, and daily functional independence. She also provided insights into rehabilitation strategies and emphasized the importance of integrating persons with disabilities into mainstream social and economic activities.
The event was facilitated by Youth Officer Swarnali Acharya of the UYP Rangpur team, while Project Officer Animesh Roy presided over the session. In his remarks, he highlighted the objectives of the UYP initiative and reinforced the importance of inclusive development and youth empowerment for persons with disabilities.
Additionally, Mentor Anika Taskin presented an overview of RHSTEP, UYP, and Sida supported programs. She emphasized how such initiatives contribute to building confidence, leadership skills, and self-reliance among young people.
This initiative reflects RHSTEP UYP’s continued commitment to disability inclusion, youth empowerment, and inclusive health education in Bangladesh. The program is expected to play a significant role in fostering an equitable, accessible, and inclusive society where young persons with disabilities can actively contribute to national development.
