Sida Supported SRHR Promotion Project of SRHR consortium Launched in Dhaka

 

Speaking at the launching ceremony of Promotion of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR): Provisioning of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services focusing on safe MR and reduction in Bangladesh. Ms. Isabella Lövin , Minister for International Development Cooperation, Sweden lauded the strong collaboration between the Government of Bangladesh and the Government of Sweden in the field of SRHR. She specially appreciated that this effort has led to the decrease in Maternal Mortality due to unsafe abortion. Minister Lövin highlighted that the ICPD programme of action is as relevant today as ever before and concerted efforts must continue to implement the unfinished agenda of ICPD. H.E Mr. Johan Frisell, the ambassador of sweden said that Sweden has long history of working in the development sector with the government of Bangladesh. He emphasized that Bangladesh needs to actively focus on the prevention of child marriage. The Swedish Ambassador stressed that issues must be addressed holistically with multispectral collaboration. He assured that Sweden will remain in the forefront of defending and promoting SRHR.

Workshop on “Improvement of Quality of Care by MR/PAC Service Providers (trained FWVs) to improving Reproductive Health”

 

RHSTEP organized a workshop titled “Improvement of Quality of Care for Service Providers (trained FWVS) of MR/PAC” on 22 October 2014 at Conferenc e Hall, Hotel City Inn , Khulna .

The objectives of the workshop were –

•  To Improve of Quality of Care for Service Providers (trained FWVS) of MR/PAC”

•  To Improve SRHR of women-men and adolescents

•  To progress Go -NGO relationship build up for better SRHR Services

•  To take authorities knowledge what kind of problems face of Service providers to deliver health service. more



Workshop on “ Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights: Realities among Brothel bases Sex Workers

RHSTEP Organized a day long Workshop on “ Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights: Realities among Brothel bases Sex Workers” at Hotel Raffles inn., Goal chamot, Faridpur on 30 June 2014.

There were 82 Participants among them 66 sex worker, peer educator, another associate organization's (NGO) workers and Additional Superintend of police, journalist were present in that workshop.

Objective of the Workshop:

•  To identify the Sexual and Reproductive Health problem of sex worker.

•  To know what kind of problem the sex worker are facing to get the health service. more






Workshop on “ Adolescent Reproductive Health Education program Review and Future Plan”

A workshop titled “Adolescent Reproductive Health Education Program Review and Future Planning was organized by RHSTEP on 28 June, 2014 at. CRP, MIRPUR, CONFARANCE ROOM, Dhaka.

The objectives of the workshop was -

•  To focus on the present reproductive health status of adolescent and its importance.

•  To identify the problem and its solution of present health education program being implemented by RHSTEP.

•  To find out the way to make the reproductive health education more adolescent and youth friendly.

•  To identify the importance of new issues those can be included in the exiting education program. more




Workshop on “RHSTEP's Reproductive Health Education and Services program for garments worker entitled “Review and looking forward”

RHSTEP arranged a workshop “RHSTEP's Reproductive Health Education and Services program for garments worker entitled “Review and looking forward” on 16 th June, 2014 at conference room, CRP -Mirpur (2 nd floor)

The workshop objectives issue-

•  To motivate garments authority for providing support in help for RHSTEP's garments related activity.

•  To identify subjects of SRHR for garments worker in Reproductive Health Service and Education Program of RHSTEP.

•  To ensure the health services for garments worker in RHSTEP's clinic.

•  To find out the problem and relevant solutions for SRH Education and Service

•  Planning for the futuremore


International Elimination of Violence against Women’ 2011


25yearOn 25th November, 2011 RHSTEP observed the Day titled “Violence Against Women” in its 22 centers operating in Public Medical College Hospitals in 19 districts.

RHSTEP arranged an open discussion at community level where many influential people like teachers, social leaders and community male and female members talked about demerits of violence against woman.

Here many women victims narrated how they have been beaten up by their husbands. Participants of the adolescent group said that education will help end the curse of dowry and early marriage, which will ultimately stop violence against women. more



State Secretary of International Development Cooperation of Swedish visited RHSTEP, DMCH Centre


25yearThe State Secretary of International Development Cooperation of Sweden Ms. Hanna Hellquist visited RHSTEP Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on November 3, 2011. She visited different parts of the centre and showed keen interest about different services and activities of RHSTEP there. After the visit she commented that RHSTEP is doing excellent job in regard to SRHR in DMCH. She also hoped to visit again in Bangladesh and RHSTEP as well. Earlier she met the Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Brigadier General S hahidul Haque Mallik and discussed about services and quality issues of DMCH. She also discussed about challenges of DMCH. The Director informed her about DMCH services and also informed her about the challenges of DMCH. more



Swedish Minister visited RHSTEP center


25yearThe visiting Swedish Minister of Environment Ms. Lena Ek visited RHSTEP Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on October 18, 2011. She highly appraised the activities of RHSTEP after visiting different areas of the centre and talking to the clients, trainees and staff there. Earlier she had a meeting with the Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Brigadier General Shahidul Haque Mallik and discussed on services and quality issues of DMCH. The Director informed her about the pros and cons of the DMCH. He also highly appraised the activities and contribution of RHSTEP at DMCH in reducing MMR in the country.

During the visit Mr. Ashiqul Islam, Director, RHSTEP informed the Minister about overall RHSTEP’s activities in the country. Dr. Lutfa Rahman, Program Coordinator (Service), RHSTEP-DMCH accompanied the team during visiting different area of the RHSTEP –DMCH center. Before leaving the centre the visiting minister of Sweden wrote comments in the Guest book of RHSTEP, DMCH. The Minister and her team also visited Gyne/OBS ward of DMCH on that day as part of her visit. more



Workshop on Role of School Curriculum in ASRHR


A Workshop was Organized titled “Role of School Curriculum in Adolescent Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights (ASRHR)” where Students & teachers participated from different school in Dhaka City. The workshop was coordinated by Md. Mahbubul Haque, Program Coordinator, RHSTEP & facilitated by Jesmin Hossain, Project Associate, BCC & Advocacy Unit, RHSTEP & Khaleda Habib, Project Associate, BCC & Advocacy Unit, RHSTEP. more


Workshop on “Effectiveness of Trained MR Service Provider”

RHSTEP organized a day-long Workshop on “Effectiveness of Trained MR Service Provider” at Hotel Royal International, Khulna on 20 July 2011. This was a Divisional workshop with the participants from Divisional and District level health and family planning staffs from Khulna, Jessore and Narail districts. Altogether 190 selected FWVs, SACMOs, UFPO, Medical Officer and Assistant Medical Officer of MCH of Khulna, Jessore and Narail districts participated in the workshop. Besides, about 40 guests including Medical Officer, Assistant Professors of Gyne/Obs, Senior Professors of Gyne/Obs, Khulna Medical College Hospital, Jessore General Hospital and Narail Sadar Hospital, DDFP of Khulna, Jessore and Narail and local Journalists were also present in the workshop.more



Training on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Youth Friendly Services (YFS)

To bring in positive changes to weaker areas where it is most essential in respect of the quality of the Consortium’s activities as well as the staff members, SRHR Consortium is being organized Training on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Youth Friendly Services (YFS). SRHR Consortium aimed to make its staff member more capacitate on SRHR issues to operate the YFS Centers effectively. This five days training is especially organized for the top and mid level staffs who wants to contribute in their organization as well as national development. To bring in positive changes to weaker areas where it is most essential in respect of the quality of the Consortium’s activities as well as the staff members, SRHR Consortium is being organized Training on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Youth Friendly Services (YFS). more

Message Development Workshop

25yearA Workshop on Message Development was held in Hotel Lake Castle, Dhaka from March 21-24, 2011. In the world of high technology and wide media coverage, developing right messages for the right audience on right time is more challenging than it was before. People, especially the urban dwellers are more likely to have higher exposure to multiple media in their regular days and they have their own discretion to receive or reject the messages. more


Workshop on reproductive health held

25year Reproductive Health Services Training & Education Programme (RHSTEP), an NGO, organised a workshop on strategy development for information, education and communication (IEC) and advocacy activities from January 30 to February 1, 2011.

The workshop was held at the NGO Forum office at Lalmatia in Dhaka.more




International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women' 2010

RHSTEP observed International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women' on 25th November 2010 with its due solemnity & festivity. RHSTEP mainly works for improving Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights in Bangladesh, however RHSTEP also emphasising on elimination of all forms of violence against women to achive there health and rights fully. RHSTEP distributed 1000 T-shirts with slogan on VAW among Rickshaw Pullers in its working areas on the day.

As Rickshaw Pullers move different areas so many people can see them & thus they will be aware about the objective of the day. more



Agreement on Reproductive Health Signed

Swedish Sida and Reproductive Health Services Training and Education Program (RHSTEP) signed an agreement on “Sexual and reproductive health and rights program”.

On behalf of the development partner, Swedish Ambassador in Dhaka Anneli Lindahl-Kenny and on behalf of the SRHR consortium, RHSTEP Executive Director Quazi Suraiya Sultana signed the agreement. more



Opening Ceremony Workshop of RHSTEP Center/Clinic at Khagrachari Sadar Hospital
25yearThe RHSTEP center at Khagrachari Sadar Hospital has been formally inaugurated on 24 June 2010. The opening ceremony was arranged at the venue of Town Hall , Khagrachari Hill District. The whole programme was divided into two sessions viz. inaugural session and cultural show. The participants of this Workshop were 300 selected FWVs, FWAs, SACMOs, Village Doctors, Local NGOs, DDFP, ADCC, MO Khagrachari Sadar Hospital, Civil Surgeon Khagrachari & Project Advisor RHSTEP Khagrachari Sadar Hospital , Consultant Gyn. & Obs. Rangamati Sadar Hospital and Technical Advisor of RHSTEP Khagrachari Sadar Hospital, Deputy Commissioner Khagrachari, local Journalists and Chairman Khagrachari Hill District et cetera. more


Feedback Workshops with School- Going Adolescent Students

RHSTEP organized 3 (three) Feedback Workshops with School-Going Adolescent Students within the frame-work of RHSTEP's School Education Program Sessions concluded successfully scheduled in the FY July 2009-June 2010. Main objective of the feedback workshops aimed at to create and foster effective awareness- advocacy-BCC and motivation among adolescents and gate- keepers i.e. their parents, teachers, local leaders and influential personages including heads of local educational/ religious institutions and socio-cultural organizations. more
