A networking meeting emphasizing the importance and accessibility of Menstrual Regulation (MR) services for women’s reproductive health was held in Faridpur. The event took place on Thursday morning in the conference room of Faridpur Medical College Hospital, organized by the Reproductive Health Services Training and Education Program (RHSTEP).
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Dilruba Jeba, Principal of Faridpur Medical College and Technical Advisor of RHSTEP at Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir, Director of Faridpur Medical College Hospital and Project Advisor of RHSTEP, delivered the keynote speech. Dr. Elvina Mostari, Deputy Director (Program) of RHSTEP, highlighted the organization’s various initiatives across the country.
Speakers discussed the significance of MR services in preventing complications from unintended pregnancies, along with the limitations of current services and recommendations for future improvements. The meeting also focused on raising awareness to dispel misconceptions about MR and promote its benefits as a strategy to reduce maternal mortality.
The program was facilitated by RHSTEP Manager (M&E and Advocacy) Toufiq Ul Karim Chowdhury. Among those present were Professor Dr. Khan Muhammad Arif, Vice Principal of Faridpur Medical College, Dr. Manas Krishna Kundu, Deputy Director of Faridpur Medical College Hospital, Assistant Director Dr. Mohammad Omar Faisal, RHSTEP Program Manager Dr. Rejuana Rahman, RHSTEP Faridpur Center’s Accounts and Administrative Officer Jyotibrata Biswas, Faridpur Booster Coordinator Advocate Shipra Goswami, Md. Baki Billah Khan Palash, journalist Sabuj Das, as well as heads and doctors from various departments of Faridpur Medical College Hospital and officials from multiple levels of RHSTEP.
The meeting served as a platform to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders and enhance awareness of MR services to ensure women’s health and safety in Faridpur.
