On 7 April 2026, in observance of World Health Day 2026, UYP (Aparajeyo Tarunno) Mymensingh Branch organized a discussion session at 3:00 PM, highlighting the national theme “স্বাস্থ্যসেবায় বিজ্ঞান, সুরক্ষিত সকল প্রাণ” (Science in Healthcare, Safe Lives for All) along with the global significance of WHO-led health initiatives and public health protection efforts.
The session was chaired by Project Officer Resmina Haque and conducted by Youth Officer Md. Ershad Mia. The program began with an address by UYP Advocate Monisha Das, who emphasized that health is the key to happiness and highlighted the importance of health rights. She stressed that awareness among individuals is essential to ensuring the well-being of families and society as a whole.
Following this, Advocate Rezwan Nasif discussed the 2026 World Health Day theme and highlighted the positive impact of science and technology in modern medical treatment and healthcare advancements.
Advocate Jannatul Ferdous Milli focused on the concept of “health as wealth,” drawing attention to the rising cost of healthcare and its impact on individuals and families. Advocate Naeem emphasized the importance of physical activity, sports, and recreation in maintaining both physical and mental well-being.
Advocate Banya discussed adolescent health, emphasizing the importance of proper nutrition and awareness during puberty, encouraging young people to maintain healthy lifestyles and avoid harmful habits.
A participant, Mitali Sarkar, shared her personal experience, stating that her involvement with UYP helped her understand adolescent physical and mental health, making her more health-conscious and grateful to the organization.
Mentor Jui highlighted the importance of personal responsibility in maintaining health awareness while also emphasizing the role of the state in ensuring access to healthcare services. She further noted that if necessary, collective action may be required to ensure citizens’ health rights.
Mentor Probhat Das addressed issues within the healthcare system, including irregularities in diagnostics, misuse of technology, unregulated private healthcare practices, and lack of public awareness, stressing the need for accountability at all levels.
In the concluding session, the chairperson opened the discussion by asking, “What do we actually mean by health?” and explained that health includes physical, mental, and social well-being. He further introduced the concept of “One Health,” emphasizing the interconnectedness of humans, animals, and the environment. He also highlighted the importance of Universal Health Coverage and the role of the state in ensuring accessible healthcare for all.
The session concluded with expressions of gratitude to all participants and speakers, formally ending the discussion meeting and reinforcing RHSTEP–UYP’s commitment to health awareness, rights-based approaches, and community engagement.
