On 15 March 2026, Khulna UYP organized a day-long workshop titled “Workshop on Understanding the Health System” with the participation of community youth representatives and persons with disabilities from the Khalishpur, Basteehara, and Maheshwarpasha areas.

The primary objective of the workshop was to improve participants’ understanding of the healthcare system structure, different service levels, and community-level health demographic data collection processes. The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity to utilize demographic information for health planning, awareness, and advocacy initiatives.

At the beginning of the workshop, an interactive session was conducted where participants were introduced to the overall structure of Bangladesh’s healthcare system and the step-by-step expansion of healthcare services in Khulna district. Discussions included the types of healthcare services available at different levels and the limitations of services within the system.

The following session focused on community health demographics, where participants learned how demographic information can be collected at the community level and effectively used for health planning and advocacy activities.

The session was facilitated by Selina Khatun, Thana Family Planning Officer (TFPO) of Khulna Sadar, who provided practical insights into community health data collection and service delivery systems.

The workshop also featured Senior Health Education Officer Azad Abul Kalam from the Civil Surgeon Office, Khulna, as a guest speaker. In his discussion, he emphasized that understanding the healthcare system is essential for effective community-level work and ensuring proper healthcare services for people. He also highlighted the realities, limitations, and challenges of healthcare services in Khulna, along with the importance of increasing public awareness regarding health services and access.

At the end of the workshop, feedback was collected from participants to evaluate the effectiveness of the sessions. The program concluded with the distribution of gifts among participants, marking the successful completion of the workshop and reinforcing UYP’s commitment to community health awareness and capacity development.
