With the theme, “অধিকার, ন্যায্যতা, উদ্যোগ—সফল নারী ও কন্যা শিশুর জন্য” (Rights, Justice, and Initiatives for Successful Women and Girls), RHSTEP-UYP (Aparajeyo Tarunno) Chattogram Centre celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with great enthusiasm at the Kachareli Community.

The event was chaired by Project Officer Apu Dasgupta of Aparajeyo Tarunno Chattogram Centre and conducted by Youth Officer Annie Chowdhury. The discussion session featured speeches from Mentor Tofatul Jannat and Community Representative Moriyom Akter.

The speakers emphasized that International Women’s Day is not only a celebration of women’s achievements, but also an important opportunity to strengthen the demand for women’s rights, dignity, equality, and empowerment. They highlighted that women continue to make significant contributions in every sphere of society, family, and the state, yet equal opportunities in education, healthcare, employment, and decision-making are still not fully ensured for many women.

The discussion further stressed that sustainable development is only possible when both women and men can participate equally in all aspects of society. Special importance was given to raising awareness among adolescents, increasing knowledge regarding health and rights, and strengthening collective efforts toward establishing gender equality.

Through the program, participants paid tribute to the strength, courage, and potential of women and reaffirmed their commitment to building a discrimination-free and equitable society.

Following the discussion session, follow-up quiz questionnaires were distributed among participants, which will be reviewed in the coming week. Feedback regarding the program was also collected from participants to support future awareness and engagement initiatives.

The event successfully created an inclusive platform for dialogue, awareness, and empowerment, reflecting RHSTEP’s continued commitment to promoting gender equality and community participation.
