On 27 October 2025, Aparajeyo Tarunno (UYP Project), Khulna Centre, organized an awareness programme titled “Implement Programs to Empower Young Women and Engage Youth with Disabilities in Health Reform Efforts.” The programme was held from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM and engaged adolescents and youth, including persons with disabilities, from Khalishpur, Rishipara, and Bastohara communities in Khulna.
The session began with participant registration facilitated by Mentor Nurani Hajera Oishwarya. This was followed by a thought-provoking documentary screening, moderated by Youth Officer Noshin Tabassum, highlighting that women’s empowerment extends beyond physical appearance to include leadership, intellect, and rights awareness.
Following the screening, an interactive discussion and opinion-sharing session was conducted by Project Officer Sujoy Chowdhury Samya. Distinguished participants included Ms. Shahanur Begum, Manager, NSBP Khulna, and Ms. Kohinur Akter Kona, Organizer of Shishu-Kishor Mela and a women’s rights activist. Participants actively shared their perspectives on women’s dignity, inclusion of persons with disabilities, and health rights.
The discussion emphasized that true empowerment lies in education, confidence, and leadership rather than external attributes. In his remarks, Project Officer Sujoy Chowdhury Samya stated, “Change begins with self-awareness. The participants here today will not only become informed themselves but also act as change agents within their communities.”
In the concluding segment, guests addressed participants’ questions, followed by a photo session facilitated by Mentor Rayan Rahman and distribution of tokens of appreciation by Muhtasim Mahmud Sukhan.
The programme successfully inspired participants with new perspectives, confidence, and motivation for leadership. Organizers expressed their commitment to continuing such initiatives to strengthen inclusion, health rights awareness, and leadership development among marginalized and differently-abled youth.
