On 13 November 2025, Aparajeyo Tarunno (UYP) Rajshahi organized a programme titled “Establish Youth Health Council for UHC at Local Level” at its unit office, with the participation of young individuals and local youth representatives.
Through this initiative, a 10-member Youth Health Council (YHC) was formed, with Sabbir appointed as the Convener and the remaining participants serving as members. The programme featured several thematic sessions covering key public health and youth development topics.
Ms. Dipti Sarkar, Project Officer of UYP Rajshahi, conducted sessions on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Mr. Md. Faridul Islam, Youth Officer, led discussions on youth leadership, mental health, community health awareness, peer education, health rights, and access to services. Additionally, a session on skill development was facilitated by Mentor Mr. Nurul Islam.
The programme was chaired by Mr. Md. Mamunur Rahman, Unit Manager of RHSTEP Rajshahi Medical. The Chief Guest, Mr. Md. Obaidul Haque, Head Teacher of Mohishbathan Adarsha Balika High School, and Special Guest Mr. Shamim, Ward Secretary of Ward No. 24, Talaimari Shahid Minar, Rajshahi, were also present.
Speakers emphasized the importance of forming Youth Health Councils, outlining their structure and potential role in strengthening local-level health systems. They assured continued guidance and support for youth-led initiatives.
The programme concluded with an oath-taking ceremony administered by Youth Advocate Jiniya, followed by participants signing a commitment declaration to actively contribute to youth leadership development and the promotion of Universal Health Coverage at the community level.
