On 16 November 2025, UYP Khulna Centre organized a specialized workshop titled “Implement Programs to Empower Young Women and Engage Youth with Disabilities in Health Reform Efforts,” held from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The workshop brought together 22 participants, including adolescent girls, youth, and young persons with disabilities from Khalishpur, Bastohara, Disable community groups, and Rishipara.
The main session was facilitated by Project Officer Mr. Sujoy Chowdhury Shamya, who guided participants through key discussions on women’s empowerment, emphasizing the importance of education, economic independence, safety, leadership, and social dignity. Through group discussions, participants identified social and familial barriers that hinder women’s empowerment and explored practical approaches to overcoming these challenges.
An interactive drawing session provided a creative platform for participants to express issues related to gender-based violence and women’s empowerment, highlighting their perspectives through visual representation.
Guest speaker Ms. Kohinur Akter Kona delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing that empowerment is not merely a concept but a fundamental right of every girl—to understand herself, make informed decisions, and grow up in a safe environment. Youth Officer Ms. Noshin Tabassum also encouraged participants by highlighting that meaningful change begins at the individual level.
In his closing remarks, Project Officer Mr. Sujoy Chowdhury Shamya appreciated the active participation of the attendees and reiterated that empowerment starts from within—through awareness of rights, building self-confidence, and inspiring others.
Participants expressed that the workshop significantly enhanced their confidence and leadership motivation, and they showed strong interest in contributing to community-level initiatives promoting women’s rights and safety in the future.
