RHSTEP’s Unlocking Youth Potential (UYP) – Aparajeyo Tarunno, Rajshahi organized a participatory session titled “Gender Equity-2” on 24 August 2026 to promote awareness of gender equity, inclusion, and equal rights among youth.

The session was attended by Dr. Kasturi Amina Queen, Director, Directorate General of Family Planning, as the Chief Guest, and Md. Abadur Razzak, Deputy Director, Directorate General of Family Planning, as the Special Guest. Dipti Sarker, Project Officer, chaired the session, while Md. Faridul Islam, Youth Officer, facilitated the discussions.

The session highlighted how social norms, safety concerns, family pressure, and child marriage can create unequal opportunities for girls and young women. Participants discussed the importance of creating fair, needs-based opportunities rather than simply providing equal opportunities, while also exploring youth roles in challenging discriminatory attitudes and promoting dignity, rights, and participation for all.

To make the session interactive, participants took part in the “One Step Forward with Opportunity” game, which demonstrated how differences in access to opportunities can shape individual experiences and reinforced the importance of gender equity and inclusive participation.
