A “Meet with Alumni” discussion session was recently organized by Aparajeyo Tarunno (UYP) Barishal Centre, with the participation of former members attending both physically and virtually. The session was chaired by Project Officer Ms. Salma Khanom and facilitated by Youth Officer Mr. Joy Hari Biswas.

The discussion provided a platform for adolescents and youth to share their experiences and reflect on the positive impact of UYP’s ongoing initiatives. Participants highlighted how their involvement in UYP activities has contributed to noticeable improvements in their personal lives, family relationships, and sense of social responsibility.

They shared that through UYP sessions, they have gained essential knowledge on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), menstrual hygiene, safe motherhood, prevention of child marriage, gender equality, and cyber safety. The session also reflected the transformation of participants into more confident individuals, as many expressed that they previously felt hesitant to discuss issues related to adolescence, personal hygiene, and health decisions.

However, the safe and supportive environment created by UYP has enabled them to build confidence, enhance their knowledge, and actively motivate others within their communities. Participants also emphasized their ability to address social misconceptions, particularly regarding safe motherhood and health risks, by providing accurate and scientific information—demonstrating a positive shift at the community level.

The session concluded with closing remarks from Project Officer Ms. Salma Khanom, who acknowledged the discussion as both timely and impactful, marking the successful completion of the programme.
