Swedish Minister visited RHSTEP center

The visiting Swedish Minister of Environment Ms. Lena Ek visited RHSTEP Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on October 18, 2011. She highly appraised the activities of RHSTEP after visiting different areas of the centre and talking to the clients, trainees and staff there. Earlier she had a meeting with the Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Brigadier General Shahidul Haque Mallik and discussed on services and quality issues of DMCH. The Director informed her about the pros and cons of the DMCH. He also highly appraised the activities and contribution of RHSTEP at DMCH in reducing MMR in the country.

During the visit Mr. Ashiqul Islam, Director, RHSTEP informed the Minister about overall RHSTEP’s activities in the country. Dr. Lutfa Rahman, Program Coordinator (Service), RHSTEP-DMCH accompanied the team during visiting different area of the RHSTEP –DMCH center. Before leaving the centre the visiting minister of Sweden wrote comments in the Guest book of RHSTEP, DMCH. The Minister and her team also visited Gyne/OBS ward of DMCH on that day as part of her visit.

The visiting Swedish Minister was accompanied by H.E. Ambassador of Sweden Ms. Anneli Lindahl Kenny; First Secretary (Development cooperation) of Swedish Embassy in Bangladesh Mr. Tomas Bergenholtz; Dr. Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Program Officer-Health, Sida; Ms. Anna af Ugglas Nygren, Technical Officer-Midwifery, UNFPA and some of her collegues from Sweden.
