Workshop on “ Adolescent Reproductive Health Education program Review and Future Plan”
A workshop titled “Adolescent Reproductive Health Education Program Review and Future Planning was organized by RHSTEP on 28 June, 2014 at. CRP, MIRPUR, CONFARANCE ROOM, Dhaka.
The objectives of the workshop was -
To focus on the present reproductive health status of adolescent and its importance.
To identify the problem and its solution of present health education program being implemented by RHSTEP.
To find out the way to make the reproductive health education more adolescent and youth friendly.
To identify the importance of new issues those can be included in the exiting education program.
To identify the right way to make political leaders, local government representative and religious leaders and other influential sensitized on SRHR.
Quazi Suraiya Sultana, Executive Director, RHSTEP chaired the workshop. A number of 27 Participants were Present in the workshop including School teacher, guardian, RHSTEP counselor and Student Adolescents from different school of Dhaka.
Quazi Suraiya Sultana, thanked all in her welcome Speech she mentioned that life is a theatrical stage. Parents are guiding their children in their way of life. Being a mother I am also aware about it, she stated Addressing to the adolescents she reiterated that, they are the future of the nation and that is why they need to be healthy to become a good citizen. Teachers, parents, and others have the role to play on this regard. The adolescents can only perform their role in the society if they can get the necessary support from their family.
Participants were divided in groups and presented their opinions as follows-
- Adolescent wants more time for reproductive health education in school sessions.
- Adolescent wants to know more about the reproductive health related issues.
- Weekly session can be more effective.
- Adolescent wants to know more about HIV and AIDS.
- It will be fruitful for adolescent if workshops can be arrange with large number of participants.
- Need more training in reproductive health education for teachers.
Mr. Md, Masudul hauqe,Consultant of RHSTEP made the closing remarks. He said that reproductive health education program of RHSTEP is running properly. He expects co-operation from the whole School management authority to make the program successful. He concludes the workshop with a vote of thanks.
